Flight Centre Travel Group Donates R650,000

Flight Centre Travel Group (FCTG) has donated R650 000 towards youth centred programmes. Diane Cleary, the project manager for the Flight Centre Foundation, where the money was donated, said the Flight Centre Foundation has a vision to change the future of South Africa’s children through education.

“To achieve this goal, the foundation offers bursaries to children from disadvantaged backgrounds, assists toddlers in early development centres and provides after-school academic support for scholars.

“The additional R650 000 will have a far-reaching impact on the Foundation’s projects. We will be able to put a complete feeding scheme in place at various early development centres across Johannesburg,” said Cleary.

The current funding will allow them to buy two meals a day for 200 children five days a week and plant vegetable gardens at the early development centres for the benefit of the children and their parents.

In Cape Town, the additional funding will allow the Foundation to continue to support an after-school project that provides 9 to 12-year old childrenwith extra lessons and academic support.

Andrew Stark, MD Flight Centre Travel Group Middle East and Africa, said they want to improve education of they want to build a stronger South Africa.
